The VicRoads Drive Test Pathway is a structured preparation session combined with full test-day support in our DOS Driving School automatic vehicle. This session is designed to reduce nerves, reinforce correct techniques, and ensure you enter your driving test feeling calm, prepared, and confident.
Many learners drive well in lessons but feel unsettled on the day of the assessment. This pathway is specifically designed to bridge that gap — combining a focused warm-up with the actual VicRoads Drive Test itself.
During the pre-test session, your instructor will guide you through a structured warm-up aligned with current VicRoads Drive Test standards. You will revise observation routines, positioning, manoeuvres, intersection judgement, and hazard perception while clarifying any last-minute doubts or questions.
You will complete your test in our small automatic dual-control hatchback — the familiar DOS blue training vehicle. Driving the same automatic car you’ve practised in removes unnecessary uncertainty and builds comfort before and during the assessment.
Your DOS instructor will:
• Accompany you to the VicRoads branch
• Provide reassurance before the test begins
• Sit beside you throughout the entire VicRoads Drive Test
• Remain present and supportive during the assessment
Having your instructor beside you in a familiar vehicle creates a calmer environment and allows you to focus purely on driving at your best.
Ideally, you will meet your instructor directly at the VicRoads testing branch. If required, pickup from home can be arranged — however, lesson time begins from the moment you are collected.
After the test is completed, students are expected to make their own arrangements to return home unless discussed and agreed with the instructor in advance, subject to availability.
